[CAUSE]
Before the BUG_ON(), we got some read errors from the replace target
first, note the mirror number (3, which is beyond RAID1 duplication,
thus it's read from the replace target device).
Then at the BUG_ON() location, we are trying to writeback the repaired
sectors back the failed device.
The check looks like this:
ret = btrfs_map_block(fs_info, BTRFS_MAP_WRITE, logical,
&map_length, &bioc, mirror_num);
if (ret)
goto out_counter_dec;
BUG_ON(mirror_num != bioc->mirror_num);
But inside btrfs_map_block(), we can modify bioc->mirror_num especially
for dev-replace:
if (dev_replace_is_ongoing && mirror_num == map->num_stripes + 1 &&
!need_full_stripe(op) && dev_replace->tgtdev != NULL) {
ret = get_extra_mirror_from_replace(fs_info, logical, *length,
dev_replace->srcdev->devid,
&mirror_num,
&physical_to_patch_in_first_stripe);
patch_the_first_stripe_for_dev_replace = 1;
}
Thus if we're repairing the replace target device, we're going to
trigger that BUG_ON().
But in reality, the read failure from the replace target device may be
that, our replace hasn't reached the range we're reading, thus we're
reading garbage, but with replace running, the range would be properly
filled later.
Thus in that case, we don't need to do anything but let the replace
routine to handle it.
[FIX]
Instead of a BUG_ON(), just skip the repair if we're repairing the
device replace target device. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Fix issue in verifying allow_ptr_leaks
After we converted the capabilities of our networking-bpf program from
cap_sys_admin to cap_net_admin+cap_bpf, our networking-bpf program
failed to start. Because it failed the bpf verifier, and the error log
is "R3 pointer comparison prohibited".
A simple reproducer as follows,
SEC("cls-ingress")
int ingress(struct __sk_buff *skb)
{
struct iphdr *iph = (void *)(long)skb->data + sizeof(struct ethhdr);
if ((long)(iph + 1) > (long)skb->data_end)
return TC_ACT_STOLEN;
return TC_ACT_OK;
}
Per discussion with Yonghong and Alexei [1], comparison of two packet
pointers is not a pointer leak. This patch fixes it.
Our local kernel is 6.1.y and we expect this fix to be backported to
6.1.y, so stable is CCed.

descriptor. Explicitly queue up freeing of the 'current_tx' descriptor
to address a memory leak that is otherwise present. |

| The llama-index-core package, up to version 0.12.44, contains a vulnerability in the `get_cache_dir()` function where a predictable, hardcoded directory path `/tmp/llama_index` is used on Linux systems without proper security controls. The issue affects all Linux deployments where multiple users share the same system. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-379, CWE-377, and CWE-367, indicating insecure temporary file creation and potential race conditions. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
seccomp: Move copy_seccomp() to no failure path.
Our syzbot instance reported memory leaks in do_seccomp() [0], similar
to the report [1]. It shows that we miss freeing struct seccomp_filter
and some objects included in it.
We can reproduce the issue with the program below [2] which calls one
seccomp() and two clone() syscalls.
The first clone()d child exits earlier than its parent and sends a
signal to kill it during the second clone(), more precisely before the
fatal_signal_pending() test in copy_process(). When the parent receives
the signal, it has to destroy the embryonic process and return -EINTR to
user space. In the failure path, we have to call seccomp_filter_release()
to decrement the filter's refcount.
Initially, we called it in free_task() called from the failure path, but
the commit 3a15fb6ed92c ("seccomp: release filter after task is fully
dead") moved it to release_task() to notify user space as early as possible
that the filter is no longer used.
To keep the change and current seccomp refcount semantics, let's move
copy_seccomp() just after the signal check and add a WARN_ON_ONCE() in
free_task() for future debugging.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
block: fix race between wbt_enable_default and IO submission
When wbt_enable_default() is moved out of queue freezing in elevator_change(),
it can cause the wbt inflight counter to become negative (-1), leading to hung
tasks in the writeback path. Tasks get stuck in wbt_wait() because the counter
is in an inconsistent state.
The issue occurs because wbt_enable_default() could race with IO submission,
allowing the counter to be decremented before proper initialization. This manifests
as:
rq_wait[0]:
inflight: -1
has_waiters: True
rwb_enabled() checks the state, which can be updated exactly between wbt_wait()
(rq_qos_throttle()) and wbt_track()(rq_qos_track()), then the inflight counter
will become negative.
And results in hung task warnings like:
task:kworker/u24:39 state:D stack:0 pid:14767
Call Trace:

wbt_wait+0xa9/0x100
__rq_qos_throttle+0x24/0x40
blk_mq_submit_bio+0x672/0x7b0
...
Fix this by:
1. Splitting wbt_enable_default() into:
- __wbt_enable_default(): Returns true if wbt_init() should be called
- wbt_enable_default(): Wrapper for existing callers (no init)
- wbt_init_enable_default(): New function that checks and inits WBT
2. Using wbt_init_enable_default() in blk_register_queue() to ensure
proper initialization during queue registration
3. Move wbt_init() out of wbt_enable_default() which is only for enabling
disabled wbt from bfq and iocost, and wbt_init() isn't needed. Then the
original lock warning can be avoided.
4. Removing the ELEVATOR_FLAG_ENABLE_WBT_ON_EXIT flag and its handling
code since it's no longer needed
This ensures WBT is properly initialized before any IO can be submitted,
preventing the counter from going negative. |

fuse: fix readahead reclaim deadlock
Commit e26ee4efbc79 ("fuse: allocate ff->release_args only if release is
needed") skips allocating ff->release_args if the server does not
implement open. However in doing so, fuse_prepare_release() now skips
grabbing the reference on the inode, which makes it possible for an
inode to be evicted from the dcache while there are inflight readahead
requests. This causes a deadlock if the server triggers reclaim while
servicing the readahead request and reclaim attempts to evict the inode
of the file being read ahead. Since the folio is locked during
readahead, when reclaim evicts the fuse inode and fuse_evict_inode()
attempts to remove all folios associated with the inode from the page
cache (truncate_inode_pages_range()), reclaim will block forever waiting
for the lock since readahead cannot relinquish the lock because it is
itself blocked in reclaim:

Fix this deadlock by allocating ff->release_args and grabbing the
reference on the inode when preparing the file for release even if the
server does not implement open. The inode reference will be dropped when
the last reference on the fuse file is dropped (see fuse_file_put() ->
fuse_release_end()). |

which runs with interrupts disabled. Use a CPUHP_AP_ONLINE_DYN entry
instead to execute the cpuhp cb later, with preemption enabled.
SDEI originally got its own cpuhp slot to allow interacting
with perf. It got superseded by pNMI and this early slot is not
relevant anymore. [1]
Some SDEI calls (e.g. SDEI_1_0_FN_SDEI_PE_MASK) take actions on the
calling CPU. It is checked that preemption is disabled for them.
_ONLINE cpuhp cb are executed in the 'per CPU hotplug thread'.
Preemption is enabled in those threads, but their cpumask is limited
to 1 CPU.
Move 'WARN_ON_ONCE(preemptible())' statements so that SDEI cpuhp cb
don't trigger them.
Also add a check for the SDEI_1_0_FN_SDEI_PRIVATE_RESET SDEI call
which acts on the calling CPU.

net: hns3: using the num_tqps in the vf driver to apply for resources
Currently, hdev->htqp is allocated using hdev->num_tqps, and kinfo->tqp

min(new_tqps, hdev->num_tqps); Therefore, kinfo->num_tqps may be smaller

Thus, this patch allocates hdev->htqp and kinfo->tqp using hdev->num_tqps,
ensuring that the lengths of hdev->htqp and kinfo->tqp are consistent

ALSA: usb-mixer: us16x08: validate meter packet indices
get_meter_levels_from_urb() parses the 64-byte meter packets sent by
the device and fills the per-channel arrays meter_level[],
comp_level[] and master_level[] in struct snd_us16x08_meter_store.
Currently the function derives the channel index directly from the
meter packet (MUB2(meter_urb, s) - 1) and uses it to index those
arrays without validating the range. If the packet contains a
negative or out-of-range channel number, the driver may write past
the end of these arrays.
Introduce a local channel variable and validate it before updating the
arrays. We reject negative indices, limit meter_level[] and
comp_level[] to SND_US16X08_MAX_CHANNELS, and guard master_level[]
updates with ARRAY_SIZE(master_level). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: skip lock-range check on equal size to avoid size==0 underflow
When size equals the current i_size (including 0), the code used to call
check_lock_range(filp, i_size, size - 1, WRITE), which computes `size - 1`
and can underflow for size==0. Skip the equal case. |

In error path of f2fs_zero_range(), it may add a zero-sized extent
into extent cache, it should be avoided. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/xe: Limit num_syncs to prevent oversized allocations
The exec and vm_bind ioctl allow userspace to specify an arbitrary
num_syncs value. Without bounds checking, a very large num_syncs
can force an excessively large allocation, leading to kernel warnings
from the page allocator as below.
Introduce DRM_XE_MAX_SYNCS (set to 1024) and reject any request
exceeding this limit.

platform/chrome: cros_ec_ishtp: Fix UAF after unbinding driver
After unbinding the driver, another kthread `cros_ec_console_log_work`
is still accessing the device, resulting an UAF and crash.
The driver doesn't unregister the EC device in .remove() which should
shutdown sub-devices synchronously. Fix it. |
