CVSS v3.1 |
modules.d/90crypt/module-setup.sh in the dracut package before 037-17.30.1 in openSUSE 13.2 allows local users to have unspecified impact via a symlink attack on /tmp/dracut_block_uuid.map.
The (1) dshield.conf, (2) mail-buffered.conf, (3) mynetwatchman.conf, and (4) mynetwatchman.conf actions in action.d/ in Fail2ban before 0.8.5 allows local users to write to arbitrary files via a symlink attack on temporary files with predictable names, as demonstrated by /tmp/fail2ban-mail.txt.
The undo save quit routine in the kernel in Blender 2.5, 2.63a, and earlier allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the quit.blend temporary file. NOTE: this issue might be a regression of CVE-2008-1103.
The init script in kbd, possibly 1.14.1 and earlier, allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on /dev/shm/defkeymap.map.
The (1) load_djpeg function in JpegImagePlugin.py, (2) Ghostscript function in EpsImagePlugin.py, (3) load function in IptcImagePlugin.py, and (4) _copy function in Image.py in Python Image Library (PIL) 1.1.7 and earlier and Pillow before 2.3.1 do not properly create temporary files, which allow local users to overwrite arbitrary files and obtain sensitive information via a symlink attack on the temporary file.
Apache ActiveMQ 5.x before 5.13.0 does not restrict the classes that can be serialized in the broker, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted serialized Java Message Service (JMS) ObjectMessage object.
Windows Local Session Manager (LSM) Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
HCL DevOps Deploy / HCL Launch stores potentially sensitive authentication token information in log files that could be read by a local user.
Cacti is an open source operational monitoring and fault management framework. There are two instances of insecure deserialization in Cacti version 1.2.24. While a viable gadget chain exists in Cacti’s vendor directory (phpseclib), the necessary gadgets are not included, making them inaccessible and the insecure deserializations not exploitable. Each instance of insecure deserialization is due to using the unserialize function without sanitizing the user input. Cacti has a “safe” deserialization that attempts to sanitize the content and check for specific values before calling unserialize, but it isn’t used in these instances. The vulnerable code lies in graphs_new.php, specifically within the host_new_graphs_save function. This issue has been addressed in version 1.2.25. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
Fast DDS is a C++ implementation of the DDS (Data Distribution Service) standard of the OMG (Object Management Group). In affected versions specific DATA submessages can be sent to a discovery locator which may trigger a free error. This can remotely crash any Fast-DDS process. The call to free() could potentially leave the pointer in the attackers control which could lead to a double free. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.12.0, 2.11.3, 2.10.3, and 2.6.7. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in ReFirm Labs binwalk up to 2.3.2. Affected is an unknown function of the file src/binwalk/modules/extractor.py of the component Archive Extraction Handler. The manipulation leads to symlink following. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Upgrading to version 2.3.3 is able to address this issue. The name of the patch is fa0c0bd59b8588814756942fe4cb5452e76c1dcd. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component. The identifier of this vulnerability is VDB-216876.
as31 2.3.1-4 does not seed the random number generator and generates predictable temporary file names, which makes it easier for local users to create or truncate files via a symlink attack.
Puppet 2.7.x before 2.7.22 and 3.2.x before 3.2.2, and Puppet Enterprise before 2.8.2, deserializes untrusted YAML, which allows remote attackers to instantiate arbitrary Ruby classes and execute arbitrary code via a crafted REST API call.
contrib/pdfmark/pdfroff.sh in GNU troff (aka groff) before 1.21 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a pdf#####.tmp temporary file.
The (1) contrib/eqn2graph/eqn2graph.sh, (2) contrib/grap2graph/grap2graph.sh, and (3) contrib/pic2graph/pic2graph.sh scripts in GNU troff (aka groff) 1.21 and earlier do not properly handle certain failed attempts to create temporary directories, which might allow local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a file in a temporary directory, a different vulnerability than CVE-2004-1296.
Spring Framework 3.0.0 through 3.0.5, Spring Security 3.0.0 through 3.0.5 and 2.0.0 through 2.0.6, and possibly other versions deserialize objects from untrusted sources, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended security restrictions and execute untrusted code by (1) serializing a java.lang.Proxy instance and using InvocationHandler, or (2) accessing internal AOP interfaces, as demonstrated using deserialization of a DefaultListableBeanFactory instance to execute arbitrary commands via the java.lang.Runtime class.
Puppet before 3.3.3 and 3.4 before 3.4.1 and Puppet Enterprise (PE) before 2.8.4 and 3.1 before 3.1.1 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on unspecified files.
(1) impl_db2.py and (2) impl_mongodb.py in OpenStack Ceilometer 2013.2 and earlier, when the logging level is set to INFO, logs the connection string from ceilometer.conf, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information (the DB2 or MongoDB password) by reading the log file.
view_help.php in the backend help system in TYPO3 4.5.x before 4.5.19, 4.6.x before 4.6.12 and 4.7.x before 4.7.4 allows remote authenticated backend users to unserialize arbitrary objects and possibly execute arbitrary PHP code via an unspecified parameter, related to a "missing signature (HMAC)."
axiom-test.sh in axiom 20100701-1.1 uses tempfile to create a safe temporary file but appends a suffix to the original filename and writes to this new filename, which allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the new filename.
